What is IMEI?

IMEI No

The motivation behind IMEI - What is the reason for numbers?

IMEI numbers have one principle reason: recognizing cell phones. Their subsequent reason, or goal, is to forestall robbery. In the event that the cell phone can be recognized generally, the cheat can't change the SIM card in the telephone and can't anticipate utilizing that telephone.

IMEI numbers are coded into gadget equipment, making it almost difficult to change without hurting the gadget in any capacity.

The IMEI number is utilized by GSM organizations to recognize substantial gadgets and thusly it tends to be kept from getting to the organization if the telephone is taken.

For instance, if a cell phone is taken, the proprietor can call their specialist organization and teach them to boycott the telephone utilizing their IMEI number. After this, the telephone won't get to that organization or some other organization.

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is usually 15 digits.

AA: These two digits are for reporting body identifiers, which denote the GSMA approved group allocated by TAC (Type Allocation Code).

D: Check digit of the entire model or 0 (this is an algorithm that validates the ID number).

Blacklist of stolen devices:

Today the smartphone has become the most popular and perhaps the most important consumer electronic device. In 2016, there were 2.1 billion smartphone users worldwide, which by 2020 will increase the number to 2.87 billion according to a report.

• What to do before (and after) your phone is stolen?

With the increase in the number of users, the number of mobile phone theft has also increased. According to a survey report from 2013, 3.1 million smartphones were stolen in the US alone. And this is not the only thing 1.4 million smartphones were lost during the same period.

Today, we keep Confidential data on our smartphone. We have our emails, our bank accounts, important contact details, photos and even important documents. Losing a smartphone can be a horror experience, but there are many ways to find them.

When a mobile device is stolen or lost, you can request it from your local operator and block it from the operator's network. But this will be required by law in the operator's jurisdiction.

If the local operator has the rights to the Equipment Identity Register (EIR), it can insert the IMEI number of the device into it, and optionally communicate it with share registries such as the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) which Blacklists the device.

After being added to this blacklist, that device blocks for all operators.

Changing IMEI numbers to make CEIR blacklisting effective is not easy. However, this is not always true: it can be easy to change the phone's IMEI with some special tools. Many big rackets have come up in big cities, which used to replace the IMEI number of stolen phones.
